Hi, I’m Shaina, the writer, curator, and person behind Hear Hymn Books.

Hear Hymn Books began with writing and eventually grew into something I had wanted for a long time without quite knowing what to call it: a place built around books, music, creativity, faith, and curiosity.

My Christian faith is an important part of HHB. It naturally shapes what I write about, what I value, what I choose to put on the shelves, and what I hope to cultivate here. But Hear Hymn Books isn’t meant to be a place only for people who read Christian books or already know exactly what they believe.

I love books that make us think, imagine, learn, question, laugh, create, and sometimes see something differently than we did before. You’ll find faith here, certainly, but you’ll also find literature, fiction, history, biography, creativity, music, and other books I simply believe are worth reading.

Curiosity is especially important to me because, in many ways, that’s where my own faith began.

I became curious about the supernatural side of God, about the things I didn’t understand, the things that made me ask bigger questions, and whether there was more to Him than I had known.

That curiosity eventually led me closer to God.

I don’t expect everyone who finds Hear Hymn Books to begin in the same place or even be looking for the same things. But I do hope something here sparks that kind of curiosity in people. The kind that makes you keep reading, keep asking, keep searching, and stay open to discovering something you didn’t know you were looking for.

Today, Hear Hymn Books lives here through my writing, a curated collection of new and used books, bookish goods, and the events and gatherings connected to it. Eventually, I hope to give all of those things a physical home.
